Colon cancer is one of the types of cancer that starts in the colon itself and usually affects older people, however, it can occur at any age.
Colon cancer first begins as small, benign, non-cancerous lumps of cells called polyps. Over time, some of these polyps can lead to colon cancer.
Polyps may be small and do not cause many symptoms in the patient. This cancer is different from small bowel cancer.
