Pancreatic cancer (an organ in the abdomen that is located behind the lower part of the stomach) starts from its tissues. The enzymes secreted by the pancreas help to digest food and the hormones produced from it help to control blood pressure. Different types of growths occur in the pancreas, including cancerous and non-cancerous tumors. The most common type of cancer that develops in the pancreas begins in cells that line the ducts that carry pancreatic digestive enzymes (pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma).
