In Vitro Maturation above of the Page

One of the cases that has been recognized as one of the main causes of infertility in infertility studies is polycystic ovaries. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of anovulation in women for which no specific cause has yet been identified. Women suffering from this syndrome include a significant percentage of infertility patients, and one of the problems of these people is chronic lack of ovulation.

In current common methods for the treatment of these people, stimulation of ovulation (usually by prescribing clomiphene citrate and gonadotropins) is used. Due to the extreme excitability of the ovaries of these people compared to the use of these drugs, it may lead to risks for the individual, including the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and ascites (accumulation of fluid in Abdominal cavity) pointed out.

One of the new treatment methods proposed to solve this problem (Infertility) is egg maturation in laboratory conditions (IVM).

In this method, instead of trying to grow follicles in the body up to 18-20 mm (metaphase II stage), with the help of a special needle and using vaginal sonography, immature eggs with a diameter of 2-10 mm are removed, then the eggs the obtained immatures are grown and kept in laboratory conditions until maturity.

In fact, the IVM method is the same as IVF, that is, the eggs are collected and inseminated with sperm (usually using the microinjection method because the results show that the fertilization rate using ICSI is higher than with IVF in this method), cultured until the embryo is formed and the embryo is transferred to the uterus; But the difference between these two methods is that the act of ovulation in IVM is done when the eggs are not yet mature; This means that, unlike the IVF method, the woman does not need to take medication before collecting the eggs so that the eggs mature. That is, after the puncture operation and the extraction of immature eggs, the process of maturing them instead of the body in laboratory conditions and using the culture medium including the necessary compounds for egg maturation (containing nutrients and hormones) and placing them in an incubator for one It takes two days; Then other steps like IVF take place in sequence.

There are also cases that even after stimulation of ovulation using medicine and performing the ovulation procedure, all or some of the eggs obtained from the puncture are immature, and in this situation, the IVF method can also be used. cultivated in laboratory conditions until they reach the final maturity.
